Returning Students
Readmission Application:
Students who experience a "stop out" for one or more semesters must complete a Data Sheet to apply for re-admission. The Data Sheet is available via the Registrar's "Readmission to the University" webpage. Students interested in returning to a distance education program should follow the steps below:
- Determine when/where the next cohort in the preferred program will be offered (see the Program Information Page available as a link on the applicable degree level: Undergraduate programs or Graduate programs web pages).
- Contact the Distance Education Program Manager to determine whether or not space is available. The program manager will assist with approval from the academic department
- Read the information on the Readmission to the University webpage
- Select the Data Sheet (PDF) indicated for off-campus programs
- Submission of the Non-Continuous Enrollment Form
- Submit the completed Data Sheet (PDF) and Non-Continuous Enrollment Form (if applicable) to: Manager of Distance Education Admission and Registration, Distance Education, ASU Box 32054, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC 28608
Forgiveness Policies and Request Form:
Undergraduate students who wish to return under one of the University's Forgiveness Polices should follow the steps below:
- apply for readmission (refer to the Undergraduate Admission Requirements)
- review the policies on the Academic Probation and Suspension Policies webpage (scroll down to Items 3 & 4 in the section entitled, "Options Available to Undergraduate Students Who Do Not Meet Academic Standards")
- Complete the Forgiveness Policy Request Form (PDF) and submit it to: Distance Education Admissions Specialist, Distance Education, ASU Box 32054, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC 28608
Catalog/Bulletin for Returning Students:
Students who apply for readmission should familiarize themselves with the policies concerning in the Catalog/Bulletin and take whatever action they determine is correct for their situation. They may contact the Distance Education Program Manager for assistance with this matter.
