Graduate Admission Requirements
Thank you for considering one of Appalachian State University's Distance Education graduate programs. The modules (linked in the left menu bar) provide important information about what is available, admission requirements, and the application process. Select your desired program of study from the Proposed Graduate Programs list to review information specific to that program. After you've found your preferred program and have reviewed all of the information, Get Started by clicking on Application here or in the left menu bar. Prospective applicants should note:
- All programs require admission to the Graduate School as well to as to the selected Program of Study. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to review carefully the requirements for both before beginning the application process
- Program of Study admission requirements are specific to the program (add-on teacher licensure, certificate, masters, specialist, or doctoral degrees). The requirements are provided on the Individual Graduate Program Information pages.
- All graduate degree programs require standardized test scores. Most Add-On Licensure and certificate programs do not require test scores. For test requirements for your selected program, please see the program information page. The Appalachian State University Testing Center offers many tests on the main campus.
Transition to Teaching:
Individuals who possess a non-teaching baccalaureate degree and have an interest in pursuing teacher licensure through Appalachian's Distance Education Programs must contact either the Reich College of Education Office of Field Experiences or the Appalachian Transition to Teaching Program Office to receive an evaluation and guidance. Prospective applicants should pursue the contact before beginning the application process. They should also be aware that applying for teacher licensure is a separate process and should be pursued through the Reich College of Education.
Questions about the application / admission process may be addressed to the Distance Education Program Manager assigned to the specific program.
